Lucy takes a call.

Andy and Lucy are distracted from their conversation about donut geometry from an important call from the bank!

We spent 3 hours at the sheriff’s station shooting this scene with Dan and Azure. Excellent invocations of Andy Brennan and Lucy Moran.

The donut is a delicious vegan Voodoo Donut, a challenge to not bite into during the scene!

Scrims

What are scrims anyway?

Part of the Twin Twin Peaks process has been training crew members for shoot days. Since this is a low budget operation we are relying on amateur talent and amateur crew. These are images of one of those training sessions, learning about three-point lighting, and sound recording together. We eventually did figure out what a scrim is.

Welcome to Twin Peaks

Welcome to Twin Peaks

Laurel and I went up to North Bend to get some exterior shots of Nadine looking for her husband! Laurel did a fantastic job of fuming around the town. We shot outside of the original Hurley Residence, and well as Big Ed’s Gas Barn.

While in North Bend we also managed to get some nice shots for the intro sequence.

Thankfully, Jay and Benie allowed us to come back to the lodge, to pick up that missed shot from the first day. We also added a scene with evil Cooper. This time we tried some fancy camera work, with Kirsten Kuppenbender’s DIY dolly.

DAY 2: INTERIOR DOUBLE R DINER

March 9th, 2009

On the road again, to North Bend, this time. We were allowed to spend a few hours filming some scenes in the original Double R Diner – now called Twede’s Cafe.

The interior of the diner looks extremely different from how it did in the series:

Twede's Interior

The theme of the diner is now Tweetie birds, after the name of the owner – Kyle Twede. Kyle was very patient with us while we worked through three scenes. Patience was particularly required during the filming of the last scene, which involved Nadine Hurley storming in the door of the Diner and telling Shelley Johnson off.The diner actually burned down after the filming of Twin Peaks and was updated when it was rebuilt.

Diner Arson

Most of the Twin Peaks trivia type stuff is relegated to the back hallway. There are production photos, Twin Peaks festival paraphernalia, and a complete set of Twin Peaks trading cards.
